Why do running experts like to wear vests?

I wonder if you have noticed this phenomenon: in marathon races, those fast runners are basically all very lean, and the most important thing is that they have one thing in common in terms of equipment, that is, they all wear vests!

Why is this? Does wearing a vest have a different magic that makes people run faster?

And in daily training, I found that those great runners in the running group also like to wear vests. Even in cold weather, when running long distance courses, everyone wears a vest.

It is said that there is a popular saying in the running circle, called: “Winning the marathon championship depends on wearing a vest.”

In fact, there are reasons for this!

In terms of equipment, a vest will be lighter. Compared with a short-sleeved shirt, it has two less sleeves. Don’t underestimate the weight of two less sleeves. It seems insignificant, but for those great runners, even a little more weight will affect the speed in the second half. After all, in the long distance of a marathon, especially when you are exhausted, even if you have one more gram, you will feel that it is a great burden!

In addition, wearing a vest is more comfortable, and it is much better than short-sleeved shirts in terms of physical feeling, especially in this summer. The more you sweat when running, the more uncomfortable you will feel when wearing short-sleeved shirts. The feeling of sweat sticking to your body is very uncomfortable, and the vest can eliminate this very well, improving the running comfort.

Secondly, the vest has a better heat dissipation effect, which can effectively promote the reduction of core temperature, so that you will not feel stuffy during running, thereby reducing your heart rate and making it easier for you to run better results.

Of course, from my personal point of view, I think wearing a vest has another advantage, which is that you will be freer when swinging your arms, especially when running a marathon, because I used to wear the official short-sleeved shirt to run a full marathon, which was really uncomfortable and greatly affected the efficiency of arm swinging. Some runners with large arm swings are more likely to rub against clothes, which greatly affects the running state.

On the contrary, when you wear a vest, there is no such burden at all. When your limbs can swing more flexibly, it is also very helpful for running results.

Finally, from the image of the runner, it seems that wearing a vest will make him look more professional and better looking. After all, the running circle often says: the less a runner wears, the better he runs. Especially for the masters, the lighter the weight on his body, the faster he will run.

Compared with many of our runners, who are either wearing hats, headphones, waist bags, leg sleeves, protective gear, and water bottles, the heavier the weight, the more obstacles they will hinder their progress.

So, in general, the reason why running masters like to wear vests is to have a better sense of body to create better results!

So as daily runners, what should we pay attention to when choosing a vest?

It can be simply summarized in a few words, that is: skin-friendly material, quick-drying and breathable, the lighter the better, and bright colors.

To be honest, the hotter the weather, the more comfortable it is to run in a vest. If you don’t believe it, you can also try it!
